Wartime Love
Wartime Love
During war time, way back in the year ’44
To New York came the sweetest country girl
Who met a young man who she became to adore
He too was smitten and hope she’d be his pearl
During the war years, they dated and played.
There two hearts grew in love to become one.
A marriage in heaven was to be made.
They were blessed with a daughter and a son.
Through sixty years the couple would delight.
With a strong white fire love, burning true
Enduring times that were both dark and light.
Their precious love never turning into blue.
My great-grandparents’ love I do admire
For my life, it is the one I do desire.
The True Faces
The True Faces
By night, part of her is black-
tired and full of failure
mysterious and lugubrious
Sitting in the dark of midnight.
Midnight- the time of night when all mysteries show their faces.
But by day, she is red-
full of passion
love and romance
But tonight is different, she is
passionate and loving
romantic and caring
This is an altered feeling-
A feeling from the heart-
A feeling she hopes to endure for eternity.
